THE SPRINGS – LOT 7

The Springs (Lot 7) and The Chiyakmesh (Lot 6) buildings were designed as part of the 2010 Whistler Athlete’s Olympic Village and post Games as residential buildings within the Cheakamus Area Legacy Neighbourhood, connecting the local landscape and the Olympic program within sustainable design principles.

In total, the mixed-use neighbourhood accommodated 2400 athletes and team supporters for the 2010 Games and currently provides approximately 300 homes to Whistler residents as the legacy of Olympic investment.

Both buildings have a strong sense of identity and presence in the Olympic Village with unique timber elements and commanding corner tower for Lot 6. Considerable design time and construction costs were applied to the quality of the exterior engineered elements using wind-felled timber from storm-damaged Stanley Park.

The neighbourhood of Cheakamus Crossing, composed of residential and mixed-use buildings, community centre, and playfields won the FCM CH2M Hill Sustainable Communities Award, in 2009.
