CEDAR CREEK

Completed in 2023, Cedar Creek Community in Burnaby’s Edmonds neighbourhood, consist of of six buildings including five designed by Integra Architecture.
This vibrant multi-family residential development is located directly across the street from Southgate City, a 60-acre master planned community also developed by Ledingham McAllister. Many landscaped pedestrian trails are linking the community to the parks and shops of Southgate City. Inspired by British Columbia’s Cedar Trees, represented in the iconic Public Art Installation, the buildings have prominent natural timber accents in addition to large overhangs with wood-grain textured soffits and warm brick cladding. To complement the built form, landscape includes boulevards and extensive onsite landscaping with amenities. A newly dedicated road through the site, as well as pedestrian trail, provide a complete network within the neighbourhood. All parking for the development was provided within underground parking garages with vehicular access from the rear lane.

Existing originally on site Cedar Place, a non-market development operated by BC-housing with 90 units, was replaced with new units on adjacent Southgate Site and generated additional seniors’ non-market housing on Cedar Creek Site. This innovative partnership between City of Burnaby, BC Housing and the developer allowed for efficient provision of 596 market housing in addition to 91 non-market units
