MACPHERSON AVE – DEVELOPMENT
The development site is located within the Royal Oak Neighbourhood in Burnaby and is well served by public transit with Skytrain station within walking distance.
The neighbourhood is characterized by three-storey townhome residences on the south and west, light industrial buildings to the east, and a future six-storey apartment building to the north.
The intent of the proposed development is to provide one 4-storey Non-market Rental Apartment, one six-storey Market Apartment and three stacked Townhome buildings. The development will provide 19 rental apartment units, 111 market apartment units and 36 townhomes with a wide range of unit types.
The site has a slope with a gradient difference of approximately 5.0M from the north property line to the south, which brings significant challenges to the development when designing interconnected courtyards, parkade levels and community connections. The internal courtyard creates a private outdoor amenity space with programming that includes a place for social interaction, gathering, and flexible activities encouraging inclusive sense of community within the development.
The development proposes a contemporary urban architectural character considering its proximity to the Urban City Centre and its industrial setting.
